I recently found some scholarships that are based on random drawings (1,000 &5,000 scholarships).
they just want some personal info (name, age, address, email, state, etc)
no credit card #, no fees.

some are pretty well known companies.
scams? should i enter?

I would research the scholarship really hard, and it really would not take long.

I lurk on a google group for fin aid sometimes which has a real financial aid professional posting who puts his office addy and telephone number and all of that good (verifiable) stuff on there. I learned that some of the scholarship opps that are way random are sometimes the Internet fishing thingy. So, I would therefore really research any odd looking scholarship opp.

For example, if the scholarship opp is run by Converse Sneakers, go on their Corporate Web Site and find someone to e mail or call to double check things out. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure and all of that, eh?

I would be careful. Someone posted one of those "scholarship" offers here several months back, and without thinking, I went and put my son's name in, using my email address. I got TONS of junk mail from that. (I know it was from that because the emails came to my son, but to my email, and that was the only place I signed him up that way.) I learned my lesson!
