My son applied EA. He has not yet filled out the scholarship application. We just learned of the new Foisie Scholars program recently, and it looks like he really should fill out the scholarship supplement to have a better chance of qualifying, but he's really burnt out on apps right now. The Foisie materials say they are awarded on a rolling basis. So... if he is admitted with a different scholarship, is it still possible to fill out the scholarship supplement at that point and be considered for higher-value scholarship awards? We have a visit planned in February, and figure he may be more motivated to complete the supplement at that point, but will that be too late? (He visited a few years back with his older brother, but hasn't visited as part of his own search yet, and remembers liking it but not any details.)

Looks like you’d definitely need to check with them on that one. The Merit Scholarship supplement application did request that it be filled out and submitted as close to the application deadline for the type admission to which you were applying and that they typically make decisions within 2-3 weeks of the admissions review. So from that it may be a bit too late but couldn’t hurt to ask. At this point, may as well wait until after the EA I decisions come out tomorrow. Or did he apply EA II? Then you would probably have a little more time since the deadline there is Jan. 1. Good luck, we’re keeping our fingers crossed for tomorrow evening with our S having applied EA I.

He did apply EA I so is expecting a decision this week (I have the 20th written down, not tomorrow). IIRC, WPI was the school that made my older son fill out a “scholarship appeal” form to get the minimum NMF amount after he was named a finalist, so that may be a possible route as well. (This son will also very likely be a NMF.)

Yes the 20th was their original notification date, but the admissions dept. facebook link now states they will be releasing EA I decisions late in the day tomorrow.

Cool, that will end up being his first then. He’s expecting one on Tuesday and one “mid-December” which I guess could also be tomorrow, but I haven’t seen a date from them (Drexel) yet.

Yep, we’re also expecting one on Tues. Didn’t do Drexel though, too close too home. S wants to head north as if he’ll have time to ski being an eng. major. Good luck to your boy!

Good luck to yours as well!
