what are you stats, Kmys?

Thanks SBDad. My daughter is instate, 3.9, 33 ACT, great ECs. I think the Regents is for in state only.

And you aren't URM; good job!

They only give out about 500 of those suckers. My stats are identical, except I only got a 32 on my ACT. My essays might have sucked too. I didn't put much creative thought into them.

I also received the Regent's Merit Scholarship today. It's fairly small, but then again, I do live in Michigan so my tuition is already a pretty good deal.

Also, a school district near me (Kalamazoo Public Schools) has this scholarship program called the Kalamazoo Promise. It covers ALL of the tuition for any college in Michigan. They just implemented the program last year.

tdiamond14: what are you stats, Kmys?

33 act, 2150 sat, 8 aps, 4.0 umich gpa, tons of extracurriculars...national awards in indian classical dance, etc, good essays and recs. (i'm indian.)

so i wonder what the chances of me getting money are.

Seems like the scholarship pipeline is very quiet.

i got a letter telling me to apply for an out of state scholarship but that was it

Relax everyone.

I just talked to a kid with a 36 on his ACT, 11 AP classes with 5s on 90% of the tests, and a 3.9 Umich GPA.

He didn't get any money yet.

If they do actually give anyone anything, it will roll out later on.

I got the MSA in May, I believe.

I got both of mine in late December, towards Christmas, and I don't know very many people who got big awards before that.

So everyone relax. There's a lot of time left.

every indicator is pointing to this year being WAY slower than last year. Last year after mid-october a batch of decisions was released almost every friday without fail. At my high school, nearly every Michigan bound senior was already been admitted by this time. This year there have been a total of 2 acceptances as far as I know.

I'd like to think that I was a "clear admit" to Michigan last year...my application was completed October 22 and I wasn't accepted until the first week of January...so those of you who haven't heard anything back yet shouldn't fret.

Ok, michigan is definitely giving out Regents Scholarships for $1500. I got mine in the mail today.
I applied to engineering, and am indian thus do not qualify as URM. I thought they were only giving out URM scholarships, but apparently they are giving out Regents as well.

I got the Engineering Scholarship of Honors today!

$20,000/year for 4 years!

BTW...
NOT URM, 34 ACT, female, IL, 4.0 UW

i want that scholarship so bad ^
has anyone else gotten it?

holy smokes, 20000/year for 4 years! Is it a need based thing, or merit. Do you have to apply for it?

Female + Engineering = URM

Um... no. Some of the people on this simply cannot give credit where it is due.

Meanwhile, I have a (male, asian if it so desperately important) friend with the 20k/year engineering scholarship.

Wow, that is fabulous, congratulations, Allyssiean!
