If anyone received a scholarship from Tulane post here with the amount, scores and GPA, and whether or not you are accepting the offer.

OK.....18,000K/29ACT/3.7- YES (unless i get into Brown or JHU, which is probably not hapenning) what does everyone else thing about this offer?????- i think its unbelieveable...all things considered though

i just wonder if alot of people gave up their offers and that's how this money trickled down to me......so post- i want to see what's going on

The 18,000 was the full financial aid or the academic merit aid?

merit only...don't qualify for finaid...crazy right???

18k as well (founders)... 1410 3.1 UW/3.5 W (gpa sounds low, but the admissions rep who visited said they evaluate my hs gpa differently than most other schools)... most likely attending (probs getting rejected to wake/william and mary/usc) unless rhodes gives better offer

18K as well (founders)....1370 4.5W.
If I don't get into any Ivies (not much hope there) I'll visit again and then decide.

i'm visiting this saturday- i'm really excited. i'm probably going......you guys might get scholarship upgrades if you hold on long enough

22K per year for dsa... 2080 SAT 31 ACT 3.698 unweighted gpa

18K/yr, 1260 SAT (shoosh!) 30 ACT, 3.95 UW GPA (my HS doesn't really weight), Deans List @ Kent State University as HS Senior... but Tulane didn't really know that I don't think...

Haven't accepted yet, I will probably need more aid to be able to go. I was WL at Northwestern and Rejected at UPenn and Kenyon College (I don't know how THAT happened, it was kind of a safety IMO)... so I have to choose between Wabash, Kent, and Tulane. Tulane is my top choice, but it's also the most expensive of the three, so I dunno.

This is just a guess, but there may be some movement in scholarships nationwide in the next 2-3 weeks. Harvard announced just this week that they were offering $0 tuition fee packages to families with incomes up to $60k (up from $45k), and expanded aid to family incomes of $60k-$80k. This may trigger some similar adjusting in some of the private Harvard-wannabes. If it does, there will be students accepting at both Harvard and those wannabes who thought last week that they couldn't afford it -- chain reaction. Total speculation here, but some who now have Tulane DHS and DSA offers, especially, may end up going elsewhere.

Today I recieved an email from Tulane in response this survey I did online for accepted students and it had some info on housing and scholarships. This was in it:

Our records indicate that you have been
awarded the Founders Award, one of our top merit-based scholarships.

I've never recieved an email or letter about this; is it a mistake or did I get an award recently trickled down to me?

I would certainly call them, Vicky. There may be someone in the FinAid office today. Good luck!

Ugh, I already tried, no one is there. I'm so impatient

founders scholarship (18 K) 1320/ 3.6 gpa I'm waiting for Emory

I have been reading this thread and didn't respond for awhile. When my financial aid package came in my "scholarship" was $3000. Now I can tell you that my stats mirror the ones above. SAT 2080 and GPA 4.1. I had glowing recs and President of all kinds of things and lots of consistent community service, tons of awards in and out of school. -- blah blah. Nothing bad at all that could bite me. Other schools gave me 3 times more and honors programs. Add on the fact that my Mom is an alum!!!!!!!!!! Only hook is that I am a U.S. citizen living abroad. So I feel that you can safely say that the international status must have gotten in my way. Made my decison easier but still ****es me off. Parents usually have that follow in their alma mater thing but cured my Mom real quick this award!!!!!!!!!!!!

maybe you haven't gotten the letter yet, im in NY and i got it yesterday, if you're living abroad maybe you'll get it next week

JB,

I got an original scholarship letter a couple of weeks ago with the $3000 offer. So I don't know why they would send me out another with more $$. I can't figure it out when there aren't any gremlins in my past but well maybe it is just Tulane in transition. I am assuming you only got 1 letter with your scholarship info. Or was this a special notification of just the Founders award?

My DD received the DSA ($22 K per year). 31 ACT, GPA 3.8/4.34, Rank 11/400+, 7 APs and all honors classes, summer college courses, lots of awards, leadership and ECs - All State french horn, College Orchestra, piano 11 years, marching band section leader, jazz and wind ensembles first chair, works at animal hospital, journalist for teen publication, etc....

Although Tulane would be a wonderful school, she has decided to attend another university and has therefore declined the scholarship. Hopefully, the funds will go to someone else waiting for $$ to attend Tulane. Good luck, everybody!

froshtobe- in the letter it says that if you get a bigger scholarship after the founders it replaces it, so the message i got was this is for founders but i have a chance of getting more money later in the month
