Scholarship weekend

I am trying to figure out if my daughter who has been invited to the scholarship weekend should just fly there herself or if I should go with her. Does anyone have any experience with this weekend? Do the kids mainly go by themselves or do parents attend as well?

My son’s been invited, too, and I’m letting him fly out by himself, since it sounds as if this weekend is all about the scholars, with no mention of events for parents. I’m saving my plane ticket $$ for when/if he chooses Delaware and I need to head out there with him and help him move in. However, he has some experience with solo plane travel, so I’m sure that gives me more confidence. It’s my understanding that the university folks meet them at the airport and shepherd them throughout the weekend, so if your daughter feels confident about it, she’s probably fine on her own. Best of luck to her! :)

Thanks for the input. Good luck to your son as well. That was the impression I am getting, too, that there really isn’t anything going on for parents at all. I know she had been invited to another scholarship weekend where they did have a separate program for parents, and my son also had a similar experience at another scholarship weekend where there were things for parents. I think I may just have her fly on her own.

Does know the regular dates in March or April for accepted students to visit?

Admitted Student Days
March 21 - April 29 (excluding March 28 - April 1)
Mondays & Fridays 10:30am
Tuesdays-Thursdays 10:30am & 1pm

Delaware Decision Days
Saturdays, April 9 & 16

Admitted Student Tours
Saturdays, April 23 and 30

These dates should be on page 3 of your admission packet. Good luck with your choice.

OK, what is the difference between:

Admitted Student Days

Delaware Decision Days

Admitted Student Tours

I call the admissions office and they only mentioned the April 9 and 16 Delaware Decision Days.

I copied these verbatim from the admission packet. If you go to ([My Blue Hen Home](My Blue Hen Home)) and login, they have all the dates listed there as well a few additional dates. You can register there. Unless OOS got different packets it should be in the brochure sent with your acceptance letter. Admissions would know better than me, I suppose. I’m just sharing the information I have.

As for defining the dates, Admitted Student Days are held Mon.-Fri.; Admitted Student Tours are on Saturdays and I think Delaware Decision Days are full day tours when you meet reps from your specific major, open houses in the dorms, etc. Its an all day event.

You should call or email the admissions office to have them clarify further.
