I am a National Merit Finalist. If I send my finalist documentation to Northeastern, with the school as my first choice, is the free ride advertised guaranteed?

Never been able to determine if it is guaranteed, BUT haven’t heard of any NMF being denied the full TUITION scholarship. When my son was a NMF, he emailed NEU and asked, but never got a response. Hope you have better luck finding out. But, I think it’s a pretty safe bet…

The free ride is NOT guaranteed. They consider the top 1% of applicants for the full ride. Your chances depend on how many NMFs apply that year.

Good luck though!

Keep in mind that NMF is FULL TUITION and NOT FULL RIDE. If I were you, nhojcast, I would call NEU and ask.

I called NEU and after I send in proof of my finalist status I will receive I full tuition. I was already in line to receive 20,000, so I don’t know how automatic it was.

On a side note I’m trying to decide between Fordham, NEU, and Michigan State University for a finance and poli sci double major. Thoughts?

With tuition per semester currently at $18K+, your NMF standing essentially doubled the amount NEU originally gave you! CONGRATS!

Good luck making your decision. I don’t have any info on any of those schools, but would urge you to visit each of them and seriously consider the benefits of the NEU co-op program…I think it’s hard to beat.
