Hey, I just received admission and the “public tuition” scholarship of $23,000/year. Is there anyway I could receive other scholarships, or apply for others? Are all of the “public tuition” scholarships the same amount? $23,000 is nice but it’s not full tuition or anything and would probably still be too much for my family because of room/board costs, too.
Hello! Congratulations on your acceptance to Seton Hall and being awarded the Public Tuition Rate. The Public Tuition Rate is a fixed amount and is our highest form of merit-based award. It cannot be combined with the University Scholarship, unfortunately.
Freshman applicants can also apply for our “special scholarships”, found at http://admissions.shu.edu/scholarships.cfm . These scholarships are competitive, but if awarded, they can be combined with the Public Tuition Rate to further lower the cost of tuition.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to email an Admissions Counselor directly at thehall@shu.edu.
We are grateful that our son received a University Scholarship. He also earned a summer scholarship. What can you tell us about that? It is the first time I have ever heard of something like that. It can be spread over 3 summers.
How did you find out about merit? All we got was an email that said our package was coming.
I got the $90,000 university scholarship and $4,500 for summer
sorry for delay. He received the information with his acceptance letter.
@mom2016mom Did you ever find out anything about seton halls summer scholarship? My daughter got public tuition rate and summer scholarship but I do t think she will use the summer scholarship.
not sure what the questions are about summer scholarships… they are for students that decide to take Summer classes.
Searching Still: I think some (including me) are wondering how did the summer scholarship offer come about in the first place? My son was offered the University and Murray scholarships, and was accepted to the Honors program, but there’s no mention of a summer scholarship offer. We live 25 miles from SHU, so he’d jump on a summer scholarship in a second while commuting from home for the summer.
Seton Hall automatically considers all applicants for the Summer scholarship, as they do the University/Murrau/Public Tuition Rate… Thats how it “came about”. If your son chooses to take classes at Seton Hall over the Summer and commute from home, the scholarship covers 4500 worth of tuition. It could definitely be a plus in helping graduate early… My daughter received the PTR plus summer tuition… Not sure of the benefits of the honors program so she passed on that. We live in Southern NJ, so Summer classes will not be something she considers.
