Hey my guidance consuelor emailed me a few days ago that Tufts sent her a letter asking her to nominate me for a scholarship and that I even though I had never expressed an interest in Tufts she was going to do so anyway. She also said the university will send me info about it soon but I havent gotten it so I cannot confirm this.

However I have looked at the website and old posts on this board and it says there are no scholarships at Tufts.

What should I make of what my consuelor says? Also if this might be a scholarship what type would I be looking at?

I've never heard of this. Call the admissions office. Or have your counselor explain what she means, exactly. We can't really help you without knowing the details involved.

It's probably a private scholarship that is not offered officially through the admissions office and is probably through private alumni sponsors. It might also be a fellowship/mentorship program for research at Tufts, though not exactly a scholarship per se, it's a perk.

I just got the mailing from Tufts yesterday. My guidance consuelor nominated me for a Balfour- Chenault Scholarship

It is given to students of African descent and provides a fee-waived app and turns all loans that the student who have to take out into grants from the college.

I still dont think ima apply b/c engineering isnt all that strong, too much liberal arts commitment and my EFC still may be kind of high so it might still be a burden on my parents.
