Has anybody have recieved scholarship yet from washington? I am out of state (AZ) and got admitted like 2 weeks ago...but i did not get anything about scholarship.....well i did not apply for honors and applied llike 12/15 after 12/1 sooo/.. is there anychance that i can get any scholarship??? plzzzz

From what I've heard, it's REALLY unlikely that out of staters like us will be getting scholarship if we didn't apply for the honors college...

Even for those of us in state, financial aid is really unlikely unless you'd also qualify for federal aid. UW focuses most of their aid on low income students, and even merit scholarships are few and far between.

what if out of state did apply for honors... is it likely that they will get scholarship???

Not sure how likely, but I think that honors students are pretty much the only ones who will receive any sort of merit based scholarship from the university itself. Not 100 % certain of this, but pretty sure from conversations with friends, etc (my high school sends a ton to UW, and I have a bunch of friends who applied honors). Out of those merit based scholarships, I'm not sure if they're biased towards in-state, out of state though.

I JUST WANT MY ACCEPTANCE BEFORE I HAVE AN ANEURISM.

damn already...

does anyone have an idea of how much aid out-of-staters accepted into the honors program can expect? Someone with, say, a 34 ACT, 2240 SAT 1st sitting, hardest possible high school courseload with 4.0 gpa, along with great ECs? I really want to go to Washington but it'll be impossible unless I get some really great financial aid - I have a full ride to my state's flagship school, so my parents want me to go there...I'm guessing that any financial aid I receive from Washington will not be very much, if I get anything at all?

I don't know... I do have a friend who's out of state, was accepted into the honors program, and is getting a scholarship of some sort ($10k I think? I don't really know), but I don't know her stats.

It is possible, though.

well ceetie bee the problem is i did not apply for honors...so i was wondering if anybody got scholarship without applying for honors college...cuz with 10 grand + financial aid i might go to washington.....

i think when i applied, my mom forced me to apply to honors because they're the people who give out scholarship. but then again, my mom's a little neurotic, so you might still get scholarship w/o honors program

Scholarship money for instate students is very little. I have seen $2k or $3K (one at $5K) issued to top students from my hs in previous years...nothing to write home about. I think these have all been honors acceptees as well.

did you already accept your offer of admission? i don't think they send out FA things at all until you do.
kyo- i'm from az too! :]

I emailed the financial aid office about this and the only scholarships that the university gives out to OOS are to national merit finalists.

so that really sucks because I really like UW. but I can't afford out of state tuition...

kYO--- I Can say with conviction that you probably will NOT. get a scholarship for UW as an OOSer. They have to cut admissions this year by 2000ish kids*... they are definitely going to get more kids educated them have a few people with easier rides. UW is like UCs too they aim to have 15%< of student population from out of state.

*state budget isn't finalized.

Thanks everyone..though im slightly dissapointed.... i guess this is because of hard economic times nowadays....
