<p>There's a good few local and state only scholarships listed there, just be very specific when you enter your state residency, the high school you graduated from, and the schools you want to attend. </p>
<p>Although national scholarships have more applicants you have to compete against, it has also been my experience that they choose more winners. If a national program has 100 scholarships they give out each year, your odds are still better than in a state-wide competition that only has 1 winner. The local and state awards are usually for less money as well, since they have less funding to begin with. </p>
<p>I'd say apply to as many as you can regardless of how tough you think the competition will be. Most of the time you can win multiple awards in a single year, and very few programs expect you to take their financial aid exclusively.</p>
