Scholarships and accepting admission offer

First post here…little background info on me, I’m a senior that is going to University of WI- Madison School of Engineering. I got accepted back in November, I haven’t accepted/committed yet waiting to hear back from other colleges. I have made up my mind and decided Madison is the best fit for me. Anyway, the main reason I haven’t accepted yet is that my parents were under the impression that if you wait to accept, they may offer more scholarships to bait you. Is this true?

We debated this for our daughter. We sent in an enrollment fee when we saw that it was refundable. She wanted to get on their housing list because she did have a dorm preference. They awarded her with their highest scholarship this week. I actually felt like she was rewarded for showing a strong interest in their school.
