Hi, what type of financial aid packages are people getting? I'm interested in the breakdown of need based, merit, and service awards. To be most useful, please give academic stats too. Anyone who applied test optional get good aid?

My daughter (a junior) absolutely adores DePaul - we're very middle class and she's pretty much in the middle of DePaul's admission profile. I'm hoping we can afford it (we do have alternative options that would let her graduate debt free).

Thanks!

My son was accepted early admission in November. He has not received his final FA yet, but did receive $15k/year in merit aid. His stats are 31 ACT, 3.9 GPA. If you check the threads for last year you will see other student’s offers. Your child would have to be in the upper end of Depaul’s stats to receive merit aid.

Right. If you broaden your search to posts from the last year+, you should find people writing in with their stats and scores and what type of merit aid they received.

Actually, I used the search engine feature to for DePaul and aid (and DePaul and scholarship) and have not found many specific postings. There are general mentions (sometimes conflicting) of amounts, but very few with $ amounts and stats - and I couldn’t find any with mentions of service awards (too early for this year’s batch). I’m also particularly interested in test optional applicants (would have to be this year’s admittances) - we are weighing the pros and cons of test optional. I don’t think her ACT score is going to hinder her acceptance, but it may hinder merit aid award. Also, if I do the net price calculator, I get grants and scholarships of “4400-15500” - big range! She is also eligible to apply for tuition exchange (as the child of a professor at another school in the exchange). Roughly 20% of TE applicants receive an award. Ultimately, of course, we’ll just have to apply and see what happens!

Hey, I applied regular decision to the Theater School and found out today. I received a Presidential Scholarship of $15,500 a year, but I haven’t found about need-based aid yet. Here are some stats:

SAT: 640 M, 670 CR, 800 W
ACT: 29
GPA: 3.7 UW, 4.6 W

I also go to a competitive high school, so that might have helped too. I’m assuming that my recommendation letters were good, and I’m pretty involved in community service and other extracurricular activities. Also, I’ve won a fair number of creative writing awards, but I don’t know if that helped or not.

Best of luck with everything!

I got a merit scholarship of $15,500, a grant of $3,600, and the option of up to $5,000 federal subsidized/unsubsidized loans. I applied for a service/leadership scholarship but didn’t get invited for an interview. I applied ea and my stats are:
Gpa: around a 3.7 weighted
SAT: 2160
ACT: 31
AP’s: 10 classes total. 5’s and 4’s on all of the tests
Quite a few ec’s with a few leadership positions and work 30+ hours a week.
