Scholarships and score increases.

Hi everyone!

I received a $2000 scholarship based on my old scores (1410/2100). I retook the SATs in October and improved (1500/2190). Is there anyway my scholarship would improve with new scores? I'm not trying to be stingy, and I'm really greatful for my scholarship. I was just wondering if anyone has had their scholarship increased in the past.

Feel free to PM me :)

only $2000 for a 1410 ?

yea, thats pretty high. Don't know why you didnt get offered more aid.

By all means, contact Pitt and ask! Best of luck!

Thanks guys!

I was thinking it was class rank.. I was top 10 percent though and I got honors (we rank by decile)

Also, should I do this by e-mail or formal letter? Phone? I'm trying to decide what is most appropriate..

try all 3 methods haha. but def u should of gotten more money, cuz even if its ur rank, ur still top 10% which is good

i think they def. change their mind.
before, with my 1350 SAT they gave me no money but when I got a better score on my ACT (32), they gave me money so yeah. Call them anyways to tell them that since you have a 1500 (a great number for a full tuition) that maybe they can alter your scholarship value

I have 1380 and a 90 avg do i have any chance at merit aid or since i was accepted over a month ago it means i didnt receive any

Update: I received an e-mail response. They said they would reevaluate and let me know by mid February at the latest.

Good luck!

Thanks MD_Mom, here's hoping! FA is a big deal for me.

@aronik53: i didn't get my scholarship until a month after my acceptance, so you might still get one. as for your eligibilty, you should check out this link: University of Pittsburgh: Undergraduate Admissions & Financial Aid even though pitt usually says you need and essay and 1400+ SAT (or ACT equivalent) to qualify for merit aid, I've found that this isn't always the case
