<p>Son2 is going to be a senior and he has a nice little merit scholarship at an OOS college. He is in electrical engineering now and keeping that GPA needed for the scholarship for the last year is gonna be nip and tuck. At least it would only be a one year hit :)</p>
<p>Watch those Merit awards. I think he makes it but barely. Especially if your son/daughter is going into engineering. Never thought a 3.5 would be a problem :)</p>
<p>Son1 (twins) has a 3.0 requirement at his school and that is much more comfortable for an engineer.</p>
<p>No matter what the major, you should always know the requirements for any scholarship. Just as you should for any loan. It’s also never too late to teach your kids a bit of financial literacy - i.e., read the fine print!</p>
<p>My d’s school is great - the only requirement for keeping the merit aid is “satisfactory progess” - a 2.0, the same as necessary to stay off academic probation.</p>
