Does anyone know what the highest MERIT based scholarships are awarded at Mines? I’ve seen the $12K figure mentioned - is that the highest package offered?

Thanks.

My daughter just started her second year at Mines. She was awarded 12K and when the admissions person asked us during our tour of the school if she had been granted a scholarship we told her how much and she said that was the max awarded unless of course you get a full ride!

Thank you so much! Appreciate the response!

In what instances would one be offered a full ride at Mines? Thanks!

This one is for an incoming Freshman female.

“full rides” are very rare at CSM.

If you have an ACT over 30, there’s a sort-of-guaranteed $3-5k.

The best options are those with certain fits or the very competitive ones like E-days.

The max from Mines itself is the $12K academic - but DD got invited to apply for others, like the Harvey Scholarship (highly competitive, she didn’t even make the finals) that offers full tuition and more. But even that wasn’t a “full ride” because it didn’t cover food/board. It also has higher requirements to maintain.

Hi everyone,
I applied to Mines with the Golden Application and was accepted very early for the fall 2014 term. I am an in state student and have above average stats for this school. I have an ACT composite score of 33 and a 4.46 GPA on the four point scale. I just got my scholarship offer in the mail yesterday. I was offered $2500 annually, for a grand total of $10,000. I hope this helps those who are interested in what kind of money this school is handing out. It’s not great, but hey, it’s an awesome school.

My son is an in-state admitted student for Fall 2014 CSM admission. He was just awarded $5000/year (keep 24 credits a year and 2.5 GPA) based on his 34 ACT, 4.0 (5.0 weighted but CSM doesn’t weight at all), and #1 in his class. We met with admissions on the day the awards were decided and they said they were a bit higher this year based on donations.

He’s also been invited to apply for the Harvey Scholars program, which only 14 students will receive (out of 800+ in the upcoming freshman class). It’s a “full tuition” which is $14,000+ for this year and is valid for all four years (and possibly the 5-year BS/MS program) and includes funds for other projects. It will not cover housing, which is another $10,000+/year.

There’s also the E-days scholarship which awards around 3 students.

If my son were to get Harvey or E-days (or other CSM scholarships), he’d lose the $5000 from the initial scholarship. Outside, private scholarships will have no bearing on his CSM awards.

My daughter is OOS, 4.0 UW, 32 ACT. She received $12,000, and was invited to apply for the Harvey Scholarship. Just curious if anyone knows of any other good scholarships since it sounds like this is extremely competitive and she will need much more money to be able to attend. She already has full tuition at Alabama but would rather go to CSM.

My D is OOS, 3.7 UW, 28 ACT and received $9,000/yr x 4 yrs. She also received $1500/yr for her sport.
