Scholarships-- any left?

I was accepted to Pitt Jan. 9 and invited to the Honors program. I still haven't received the follow-up Honors College letter or the scholarship information. Since I'm OOS and low-income (I'm actually taking this year off to work full-time to support my family), I know I wouldn't be able to afford Pitt without some very generous merit aid. After looking through the threads, however, it looks like a lot of the full tuition and Chancellor's scholarships have already been given out. And it also appears like there's a separate Chancellor's scholarship application--is this invitation-only or should I have already completed it?

I'm a first-generation URM with a 1420/1600 (2210/2400), top 5% at a top HS, and I had 1 teacher recc sent in and 1 recc from an extracurricular coordinator.

Is it too late for any good merit aid? Also, do you think the fact that I'm not currently senior will negatively impact my chances at receiving merit aid? I really love Pitt! But i'm so worried I won't be able to pay for it.

Pitt has several scholarships to help increase diversity on campus. I bet you would qualify for one. If I were you, I would call the office of admissions and financial aid. It wouldn't hurt. (In my daughter's case, the scholarship letter came about two weeks after her acceptance.) And you can ask about the Chancellor's too. Yes, it is a separate application. Sorry, I don't know too much the timing of that, because my daughter didn't apply.

Also, I don't know where else you applied, but some colleges that meet 100 percent of need (unlike Pitt) can be very generous.

I think invitations to apply for Chancellors have been extended but I haven't heard about anyone being interviewed yet. If you had your application in by Jan 15 you're eligible for consideration. Here's a link.

I agree with LurkNessMonster that it's a good idea to get in touch with Pitt. Can't hurt to ask what's available.

okay, I'm going to take your advice and contact them. thanks!

Good luck!

I just got a letter in the mail! I got the Full Tuition Honors Scholarship and I'm going to be competing for the Chancellor's Scholarship! Ah, I'm so happy.

Congrats! Did anyone get an invite for the Chancellor interview yet?

I just got mine last week!

Congratulations and best of luck!

Does the invitation for the Chancellor interview include pay travel expenses to go to Pittsburgh?

I just got the Honors Challenge Full tuition Scholarship.

It would be helpful to know the stats of those receiving the scholarship, as well as stats for those who were considered but not selected. Also, what other universities are you turning down for Pitt? Thanks!

Well, I got $10k/yr (University Scholar) with NMSF, 33 ACT, 4.1 GPA, OOS (Ohio), and a good essay (according to my English teacher).

There are some stats for scholarship recipients in the later pages of this long thread. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-pittsburgh/410154-university-pittsburgh-class-2012-decision-thread.html
The Pitt website says minimum SAT (M+CR) is 1400 and 3.5 uw for Chancellor's consideration. Chancellor’s Scholarship

If someone had both ACT and SAT scores, would they just consider the higher score? Or would they judge you based on both scores?
