Scholarships anyone?

So I got accepted EA in business. I get very good grades, but I don't have much else going for me. However, I was offered 20 thousand a year in scholarship money (I didn't even apply for financial aid). I was pretty excited about this, but it was curious because I didn't get into the Honors Program. Furthermore, my letter said I recieved the Dean's Scholarship, but on the website it says this scholarshop doesn't exceed 17,000 dollars.

I was just wondering what money other people received.

I got the Dean’s Scholarship as well.

The Dean Scholarship does increase every year, I believe, as in 2008 (when I applied EA that fall) it was capped at $16,000 then it went up to $17,000 so that could be old info on the website.

I got the deans scholarship for 16,000 and got honors program

Yikes! Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth! Congratulations…I’m still waiting in NJ, my daughter applied EA but she’s out so I’m stalking her account (she forgot to turn off the auto fill for forms  ) Nothing !!

Accepted into Behavioral Neuroscience (Honors Program.) $20k/yr scholarship (Dean’s.)

Congratulations to all!

if im reading it right it says i got $18,000 off as a grant
my total rewards (with loans/scholarships/grants) is $26,000 for 2011/12

I got the excellence scholarship for $10,000/year and some loans that aren’t even really worth it. I was worried about getting in, so I’m ecstatic about getting a scholarship haha!

can someone tell me where it says strengths and weaknesses of your app? im really interested

My D got the excellence merit for $10,000 and we have some paperwork to firm up on the need based aid, but her stats were:

4.0, 1950, 2 strong EC’s with leadership roles: NHS, Tri-M, and a few local/school awards.

I’m thrilled. This is her everything. We will have a few lean years, but WELL worth it no matter what the price at the end.

So excited for her and everyone who was accepted. :)

D got Dean’s Scholarship for $16K, $8K/semester after that.

2110 SAT superscored, 32 ACT, GPA 4.1/4.5
8 of about 270 in class

Accepted into Bouve College, Speech Language-Pathology/Audiology

I am so relieved ! She was going here no matter what the cost.

Congrats to your daughter Wilberry, that is great news!

thanks fishy. You know I am thrilled ! (a little jealous of those who got $20, but hey, we will take the $16!)

Congratulations a thousand times over to everyone!

I made it into honors, Colleges of Arts, Media & Design (Architecture) with the 20k a year Dean’s Scholarship.

As a side note, I’m surprise at how many people posting tonight are from Jersey…RIGHT ON. \o/

I got in with the deans scholarship for 20k! Also honors college. I had heard that National Merit Finalists got full tuition, is that true? Because I am a semi finalist, and full tuition would be greatly appreciated :)

i got into honors program and received deans scholarship $20k/freshman year, but $10k for full semester (is that a year? or half year?) i’m so confused :frowning: is this saying that my scholarship gets reduced in half after freshman yr?

cherryfilter, the first year is given as an annual, after that it’s per semester that you’re in class, because you don’t get it while you’re on co-op.

The reason you guys are seeing the “freshman year”/“semester” number is that you won’t be in classes every semester after freshman year. A year is 2 semesters. $20k for a year = 10k for 1 semester. You’ll do a whole year of class as a freshman, receiving 10k per semester. Then you’ll switch to co-op cycles as a sophomore (or middler) when you aren’t paying tuition and thus NU doesn’t need to give you money, so you’re just getting scholarship during semesters you’re paying for.

You are ALWAYS getting 10k per semester of class.

*edit, wildberry beat me to it :)

It’s OK Emily2007 - you said it so much nicer :)

I am wondering exactly the same thing. The $20k is great, but it doesn’t make the total cost anywhere near as low as some of my other options. I’m going to email the person on the scholarships website to find out what’s up.
