Did anyone receive a scholarship today? My child received a One UGA II with full waiver! So very excited!

There will be other scholarships as well, so don’t get discouraged if its not showing now - my sons didn’t show up on his account until after regular decisions were announced in the spring.

Yes, Classic Scholar scholarship for me!

If I was awarded a Classics Scholarship, is there a chance I will receive more money? Does anyone have any good information regarding the Classics Scholarship? It seems to only be worth about $9,000, which is not nearly enough for an out-of-state student.

Hi I am an out of state student who was awarded a Presidential Scholarship with a Full Waiver. Can somebody explain this scholarship to me? Does it mean that I pay the value of in-state tuition?

I was awarded a One UGA II Scholarship with a full Regents Waiver.

I received a “One UGA II Scholarship with Full Waiver” can anyone tell me what that means?

You get 1500 dollars a year, plus you only have to pay in-state tuition. The waiver covers the entire difference between out-of-state and in-state tuition. The total cost of attendance is now only about 20 thousand dollars a year.

Would you mind posting some of your child’s statistics? I applied from out of state to UGA as well and was accepted, but would like to know if I have a chance at getting a regents waiver.
Thanks!
Oh if it is helpful, here are some of my stats!
SAT- 660 Reading, 670 Math, 760 Writing
ACT- 30
GPA-3.8 unweighted, 4.9 weighted
APs-World, Statistics, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, English III and IV, Biology, Chemistry, Psychology, Art History, Human Geography
Extracurriculars- student council, NHS, National English Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, Crushing Cancer (founder and president), Beta Club, Speech and Debate, Figure Skater (11 years)
Also went to NC Governor’s School for Visual Art

I got the Classic scholarship. Here are my stats:
CR: 740
Math: 730
Writing: 720
(superscored)

SAT IIs:
US History: 800
Math I: 740
State of residency: VA

ACT: 32

9 AP Classes (10 courses, two were half year)
US History (5), World History (4), Spanish (2), Physics C: E&M (2), Physics C: Mechanics (3), US Gov(4), Comp Gov (3), Lang (5), Comp Sci A(3), Calc AB (5)

GPA Weighted by schools standard was 4.26, unweighted was ~3.8. I’m not sure what my GPA was by UGA standards, but I’m sure it was lower.

I’ve got pretty solid extracurriculars (sports captain, NHS officer, internship, paid summer job, etc) and I am currently taking a gap year working full-time, but I don’t know if that was considered. I don’t want to sound ungrateful, but I agree that it’s not enough to draw me to UGA.

How do you find out if you are awarded a scholarship?

When I talked to an admissions counselor, he said they would come in the mail! He also said that there was not a specific time window, but that they would be sending them out through April.

If you’ve been awarded a scholarship, it will show up on your mystatus page in addition to the letter you’ll receive in the mail.

If my child only got the classic scholars award, does that put him out of the running for the Foundation/Ramsey?

Stats are:
SAT (one sitting) Math 800, Reading 770, Writing 770
SAT II: Math II 800, Chemistry 800, Bio-M 800
APs: Chem 5, Bio 5, Physics C E&M 5, Physics C M 5, Calc BC 5, post-AP classes 5. Weighted GPA 4.23, high school does not provided unweighted or class ranking.
Out of state

Volunteer recorder for blind and dyslexic students (2+ years) 4 years cross country, 2 years track, summer mission volunteer 2x summers, German Honor Society, National Honor Society, Bio Olympic semi-finalist, leader at FCA.

UGA is his first choice, but we needed his financial aid award to get him to $10k or less per year. Foundation/Ramsey was the only way to do it…so we’re worried that the award of the Classic means he’s out of the running to attend UGA…

Congrats on great stats!

Hold tight. The admissions scholarships are awarded separately from the Ramsey/FF. You should hear something about the Fellowship within a few weeks.

Keeping my fingers crossed for your child.

Gibson1514, my son got notification that he was a finalist today. We are all Just Beyond Excited. Thank you for your reassurances. :)

I was hoping you would post soon! Congrats to your son! He must be an amazing young man. PM me if you have any questions. I remember how excited we were when this process started. My d has had an amazing experience and is very happy she accepted the fellowship.
