Scholarships at Pepperdine

Does Pepperdine give out any/a lot of merit scholarships. If I get anything about $10,000 from Pepperdine I will most likely go there...but I haven't read anything other than vague statements on their website about receiving aid.

Any insight would be helpful!

I was also pretty fuzzy about Pepperdine’s scholarship process when I applied there last year. I ended up getting virtually nothing at Pepperdine while getting a full-tuition scholarship at the University of Southern California. So who knows! I honestly think that so much of the scholarship process–like the admission process–is a crap shoot. Some schools may really take to you while others won’t. Best of luck to you!

Hi,
This is the question my daughter and I had a couple of years ago when she was a senior applying to Pepperdine. My daughter applied to 12 colleges and got into all but had her heart set on Pepperdine. She would not have been able to attend without receiving a substantial scholarship.

She is now a sophomore there and LOVES it! She is currently studying in London.

To answer your question, Pepperdine does not really offer full ride scholarships unless you are an athlete. However, they do offer some very competitive scholarships and generous grants. Depending on your SAT scores, GPA and essays they can be very generous. If you are Church of Christ affiliated you are also offered generous scholarships. (we are not)
Pepperdine is a wonderful school and everyone that we have come into contact with absolutely love it there. Good luck!

Academic scholarships:
Pepperdine University’s academic scholarship program rewards the academic achievement of a select group of entering freshmen and transfer students. Award recipients typically represent the students admitted to Pepperdine with the highest grade point averages (as Pepperdine calculates them) and the highest standardized test scores. The number of award recipients varies with each year. The rewards are renewable for as many as four years total.

***I know the highest scholarship award is Pepperdine’s University Regent Scholarship at $26000 per year, renewable for four years.

What type of grades/SAT/ACT scores and extracurriculars do people have that are given the academic/merit scholarships at pepperdine?

Well from our experience (and those we have spoken with) it really seems as though Pepperdine does look at the entire application as a whole including SAT’s, GPA and extra curriculars as well as your essay. If your Church of Christ affiliated and have solid GPA and SAT scores you have a great chance at the Regent Scholarship ($26,000) per year, and renewable for all 4 years. There are really no “cutoff” numbers like at other universities. I would think that your SAT’s should at least be in the high 2000 range and GPA of at least high 3.9’s to be considered for any real substantial scholarships with Pepperdine.
With that said, it’s always a great idea to call the Financial Aid office and ask. Good luck! Pepperdine is a wonderful school!!!
