Scholarships at USC

look on the USC website. There are scholarships offered for continuing students.

scholarships for transfer students? do they offer the same ones or less..?

IJustWantToKnow: yuckkkk the average SAT for trustee was 2230? my SAT is definitely 2280 and i got dean's... i'm grateful but DANG what happened haha!

apparently SAT 2 scores are important for scholarships also...dunno.

The big scholarships (trustee, presidential, etc) are only for freshman, but I think they give some merit aid out to transfers...though I wouldn't count on any.

Plus, transfers can get money the same way as continuing students.

jbusc: SAT 2 scores? 760 Math2C, 730 Lit, 710 US History.
oh well. i'm over it haha.

They don't base scholarships only on SAT scores. Sure, they're an important factor (they must have been, because my extracurrics are pretty bad but my scores make up for them), but they also look at essays, GPA, teacher recs, things like that.

Bull. I have a 2080 SAT (2340 old), 800 + 770 + 770 SAT IIs, 4.4 GPA, valedictorian, officer 4 times...

Sigh. All I got was a University Scholarship of 4k. :(

But keep in mind that the majority of students don't get any money at all.

But judging from their statistics that the top ~20% of the entering class gets merit scholarships, and from the fact that I was invited to FSH and TO, I must be in the top ~10%. I deserve at least the 8k! :(

Oh well, my need-based makes up for it. :)

i got the Deans' Scholarship going into Viterbi...i remember seeing that 250 Deans' Scholarships are issued on the whole. i'm not exactly sure what that means about its competitiveness based on major though.

the definition of the Deans' is "quarter-tuition"...so is it safe to assume that as tuition increases (assuming it even increases) the value of the scholarship also increases?

^ Yes it does, as do Presidential and Trustee scholarships.

I don't think SAT II's matter that much. I mean I had 740 IIC, 710 Spanish, 710 IC, 660 USH and I got presidential.

I think they really like Full IB. Six people from my school got interviewed (and awarded) trustee or presidential scholarships. Five of those people were in Full IB.

Also, everyone from my school who was in Full IB got in regardless of low sat scores or whatnot. We're talking about scholarships though...

You don't have to be perfect to get one. I hear they are bit random with half/full rides since it's really tough to judge.
