I was hoping to start a list of some scholarships (small or large) that award the scholarships based primarily on volunteer hours, with of course supplement information such as an essay or GPA, etc.

I know there are some people (like me) who have worked hard in community service hours but are just not "leaders" ( starting a new organization, president of every club, etc.) are there any scholarships that maybe look beyond the leadership and more for the work done?

My advice to you is to just apply to every scholarship you think you might be eligible for. You’ll never really know what they’re looking for unless you apply, and even then, there’s always a variety of kids who will win.

Three scholarships that stick out to me are Best Buy, Elks MVS, and Coca Cola. All three focus on community service and what you’ve given back.

Also check out your local scholarships, those usually deal largely with community service.

Finding scholarships based specifically on volunteer hours is kinda tricky. I’ve seen some around, but they’re mostly tied to a college or community. I suggest you look locally for any scholarships that award based on hours, but here are a few national programs that you can try out for:

[Spirit of Community Home Page](http://spirit.prudential.com/view/page/soc) - As the name suggests, it awards students based on community service. If under 14 you’ll need to have logged in 50 hours of community service, if over 14 then 100 hours.

[Leaders and Achievers](http://www.comcast.com/Corporate/About/InTheCommunity/Partners/LeadersAndAchievers.html?SCRedirect=true) - This scholarship from Comcast awards students with a “strong commitment to community service”, has at least a 2.8/4.0 GPA, be a full-time senior and had be nominated by a principal or guidance counselor.

[Kohl’s Cares® Scholarship Program](<a href=“Corporate Responsibility”>Corporate Responsibility) - Kohls awards scholarships to students 6-18, not yet graduated from high school and must have evidence of community activity. The top prize is $10,000.

I’m really not sure whether you’re in college or high school (I figured high school), but these are a few [scholarships[/url] that emphasize community service. Also, if interested in increasing your volunteer hours while earning a scholarship [url=http://www.dosomething.org/]Do Something](http://easyscholarshipsnow.com/) offers many community-related programs that can be fun and offer some hefty awards. These are many [no essay scholarships](http://easyscholarshipsnow.com) that include their [Prom for All](http://www.dosomething.org/prom) and [Staples for Students](http://www.dosomething.org/staples) scholarships that are running right now.
