I received a presidential scholarship from Rutgers and I think it's supposed to cover the total cost.

I am also going to receive financial aid (because of low family income). What will this financial aid package mean if technically, I already have a full scholarship.

Unless, the presidential scholarship (~21K/year) doesn't cover the full cost?

ummm hmm…I don’t know. maybe the financial aid will also help you pay for books and other fees and whatnot. are you eof as well?

and also, are you sure you will receive fin aid? they will most likely recognize your pres scholarship so you might not get any because of that.

no i am not eof, but my efc is 0 according to the fafsa. one of my friends also received the presidential scholarship. she still received the financial aid package.

i checked mine, but found out they need proof of my us citizenship first before they show me… i sent the proof. so i should know the financial aid package in a few weeks.

the reason i am asking is i’ve heard rumors about people “getting paid” to go to rutgers–basically getting spending money. i’m a bit hesitant towards accepting that notion.

it depends. If you are frugal and get a lot of outside scholarships, then yes, you will get money back. However, a word of caution, some books must be bought in sets, costing around $150 or even more. That doesn’t even include the clickers and stuff.
