Scholarships for above average students with above average income (w/out the whining)

So, after reading through the tide of whines on the last thread, I thought it'd be a good idea to have a thread where people can actually list scholarships they've found that are still available (read: deadline hasn't past) for students that fit into this category.

Look at local scholarships that are given by organizations that are local to you. Often school PTO's, civic organizations, and the like give out awards. For most of these, the deadlines will not have already passed. ALSO many times the guidance office at your local high school will have local scholarships listed. Each one might not be a lot, but they add up. DS did this and got a nice chunk of money for his freshman year. Most are not renewable, but anything is a help. We did not qualify for need based aid at all.

The Carpe Diem Foundation scholarships cost $14 to apply for, but you can get up to $20,000 ($5,000 per year - they are renewable if you keep a B+ average). While people are constantly warned NOT to pay money to apply for scholarships, that is because many of these are scams, while this is a real one. This year's winners were from Harvard, Stanford, Georgetown, Bowdoin,Princeton, and a few other places. There were 17 winners.

Here is some info from the website:

[quote]
We want to assist families who have demonstrated a commitment to public service. Priority is given to students whose parents are or have been employed in public service positions such as education; local, state or federal government; social service; public health (including medical providers); the administration of justice and the fine arts.

However, the scholarship is not limited to individuals in the priority groups listed above. Also, while it is not based on financial need, other scholarships which you receive will be taken into account. If you believe that you are going to make a real difference in the world and you can demonstrate that you have already taken actions which have improved people's lives through service organizations in your school and the community, then you should apply.
