Are there colleges that reward merit-based scholarships or some form of financial aid for high ACT scores? And if so, are there distinct cut-off scores? Are there any that award full tuition solely based off of ACT scores?
Thank you.

jkim4043…The Univsersity of Alabama offers scholarships based on ACT score and GPA requirements. Check out the in-state or out of state links at their scholarship website, whichever is appropriate for you. If your PSAT score puts you in a position to possibly become a National Merit Semifinalist, Bama offers one of the most generous scholarships of any school in the country. You can also search through the Financial Aid threads here for a thread on guaranteed merit scholarships to find some additional info from other schools. Good Luck!!

Alot of LACs also give scholarships based on ACT and SAT scores. Our local LAC gives a presidential scholarship of $11,000 per year for those who have ACT scores from 34-36, a different scholarship of $10,000 p/year for those whose ACTs are between 31-33, etc. Usually this helps bring cost of attendance down closer to state levels so I don’t know if this is really a “scholarship” but a tuition reduction.

Usually schools that award assured merit scholarships for certain stats require certain SAT or ACT scores and a minimum GPA. Often schools only use the M+CR for SAT for scholarship determination.

What are your test scores and what is your GPA?

There is a thread on this board that lists some schools that have automatic scholarships at certain numbers including ACT scores. However, it has been my experience that you have to check these thing each year as they can change. A lot of schools have made the subtle but significant change in making those awards discretionary with the test scores and GPAs being minimums for consideration. It could still mean that most kids at those numbers will get that award, but it is no longer a guarantee.

Look at Momfromtexas’s thread on full ride scholarships, By changing your search wordage accordingly, you could come up with some schools that have such awards that you are seeking. Things vary so much from school to school, award to award even in the same school, and over time so you do have to check the source to make sure what you find is still relevant.
