<p>Do you know of any that are strong in biomolecular/chemical engineering? Also, are you aware of any schools that give great merit aid that might be good besides the National Merit Finalist ones?</p>
<p>surfcitymom, I don’t know about schools in your child’s area of interest, but check out <a href=“http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parents-forum/52133-schools-known-good-merit-aid-31.html”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parents-forum/52133-schools-known-good-merit-aid-31.html</a> and <a href=“http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/1348012-automatic-full-tuition-full-ride-scholarships.html”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/1348012-automatic-full-tuition-full-ride-scholarships.html</a> and <a href=“http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/1461983-competitive-full-tuition-full-ride-scholarships.html”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/1461983-competitive-full-tuition-full-ride-scholarships.html</a> </p>

<p>surfcitymom,
With your sons GPA and stats, he has a real chance of receiving a Full tuition scholarship at University of Southern California, which has a strong Bio chemical engineering program, BUT he needs to complete has application before their Dec 1 scholarship deadline. Applying there early does NOT preclude his applying early to SCEA U’s such as Stanford, which has one of the best programs in the country, and also has a generous FA program. USC awards those scholarships to outstanding students who also express and show in the interviews a real interest in attending USC.
My DS was accepted at many more “prestigious” U’s, but chose to attend USC on a full Trustee scholarship, and is now at Caltech for his PhD. Trustee scholars are given tremendous support and unlimited research opportunists at USC.
