Lets say I’ve gotten my general ed courses out of the way for this school, and maintained a 3.5 ( or higher ) GPA all throughout my CC career. Would scholarships be readily available for me? Are there scholarships for high achieving CC students?
Only asking because it appears the college I’m thinking of transferring into for a bachelors offers about oh. 4,000 per year split between the Fall and Spring semesters? I don’t think that’d be enough to help me pay its price package, what with room and board costs, and the meal plan.
Please give me information. I’m currently 18, and going to be entering CC next spring. Hopefully after a few years ( or even one ) I’ll be able to enter college as a junior, and get my bachelors.
By ‘offers’, I meant for transfer students with a 3.2 CC gpa, and at least 30 credit hours. By the way, 30 credit hours translates to 2 years, right?
And, if you need information as to where I’m at, I live in Arkansas.
The Transfer Advisor at your CC should be able to help you find out about merit aid offered by the places students from your CC normally transfer to. Many places do offer some aid for members of Phi Theta Kappa or to students whose grades would have qualified them for that but never joined.
No, there are very few outside scholarships for either freshman or transfer students. The biggest source of college money is the federal government, followed by the colleges’ own financial aid offices.
If the school you want to transfer to is too expensive, you have to find different schools to apply to. Apply to more than one so you can compare financial aid offers,
30 credit hours is the average for one year of college.
