Scholarships for Class of 2006('10)

What are the major national scholarship? Are there websites that have this information? I heard about fastweb or sumthing like that.. but I hear that there are so many little ones that have very toough competition.

Do any research companies/facilities give out scholarships for research projects(excluding the Intels and Siemens)?

<a href="http://www.fastweb.com%5B/url%5D">http://www.fastweb.com</a></p>

thanks.. i heard those are impossible since everyone goes there!

Not necessarily, I thought so too till I tried em. Just do your best.

any others?

Competitions like Siemens Westinghouse, Intel Science Talent Search, Intel Engineering Fair, with these top prize of 100k scholarship...but if you can get there, you most likely won't need it anyway.

Some more Nat’l Scholarships—some need to be nominated by your school.

Discover-Tribute for Juniors

You can find these by googling. You can also find a whole lot more by doing broad searches on Google like “high school scholarships”, then, “scholarships for high school” or “high school college and career centers”. If you add your city, then you can narrow the search to other schools in your area. Try the same with college names. Get specific: "Math Scholarships", "Science Sch", "Sch for Engeineers". Get Creative. Start now—it’s very time consuming!

Local:
Rotary, Masons, local Elk Clubs, regional Elks such as CA Elks Disability, local banks and Credit Unions, local real estate organizations and computer groups, local Women’s Clubs, Emblem Clubs, area newspapers. Use the phone book and newspapers to find them. School sponsored such as Athletic Boosters.

Please remember, the nat’l scholarships are very competitive. Some of the local ones are as well. You really need to distinguish yourself by your grades and/or ec’s. If you don’t have what the criteria stipulate, don’t waste your time/postage to apply. Make friends with a favorite teacher and community support person—you will need recommendations from them (give them a resume to remind them of all of your accomplishments.) Make each essay fresh and speak to the prompt for that particular scholarship. Don't be afraid to talk about your achievements and awards. If you have the goods, don’t get discouraged—most scholarships are not awarded until after March.

Good Luck!
