Scholarships for OOS?

Hey guys, I got accepted into UMich and I want to thank you all one more time for chancing me =D

but looking at the (OOS) cost of attendance, it falls in around 47K/year...I don't know if it is really worth absorbing 188K debt (not even counting grad school!) for an engineer. Do you guys know how much merit-based financial aid they give out for OOS students?

I posted my stats below, do you think I can get any financial aid?

thanks in advance for your time guys, I really appreciate it

Not an expert on UM scholarships but from reading here and my own research, UM is terrible with OOS aid, especially need based.

Merit they aren’t that bad, but they aren’t that great either. They do have some scholarships.

But you have very good stats, especially that 35 ACT. GPA is not low, but could be a little higher I guess.

I’m hoping to get a 20k scholarship, but I think you have a pretty decent shot at winning that. Also, check out the Shipman Scholarship program.

But like I said, I don’t know very much about UM aid, and wait for someone like Alexandre to chime in.

Good luck.

enemyunit: check out BuddyMcAwesome’s stats, (very impressive) he just got $20,000 merit OOS yesterday. How early did you apply? That might have a factor as well. OOS Engineering prospects are very competitive at U of MI. My s also has great stats and definately is accepting OOS, but I think we might have to wait for the kids that are applying to the Ivy’s and using MI as their “safety” school to bow out of their scholarships/committments first before we might see some $$ coming our way. I have read that it could be as late as May or beyond. It isn’t over till it’s over.

coollege: I see, thanks for the insight. I’ll look into Shipman Scholarship program and see if I have a chance.

littlefalls: Wow I saw his stats and they’re pretty dang good. It lists my application date as 11/7/2009, but then it shows my last item as being received on the 17th. yeah, the bit about the Ivy students seems logical. I guess we just have to wait it out then.

thanks for posts guys
