My son is 4+ weeks into his freshman year, but FAFSA is completed for sophomore year. He asked if it is time to start looking for scholarships … he has several scholarships that will continue (providing grades stay up, etc) but about 2300 that he received in external scholarships for freshman year only. Are there many scholarships for returning students?
He should check at his school to see what they offer. There aren’t many outside scholarships that I know of for sophomore year. There are more major specific scholarships available junior and senior year from professional orgainizations because at that point students are less likely to change majors.
Once he declared major, he is eligible to the departmental scholarships. My D declared major in the second semester of freshmen year and received departmental scholarships from sophomore year through senior year.
