Scholarships in the humanities

@Hippobirdy is the lifetime learning credit still a thing?

Have your parents look into the AOTC and LLC to see if they qualify?

I wouldnā€™t worry too much about covering a 10k gap at this point. Thatā€™s easy with loans and a job. Keep in mind some of the listed total COA at some schools includes fluff you can reduce (personal expenses, etc.).

Like others, Iā€™m surprised by the NPC results you list. I canā€™t really imagine what scenario would result in Princeton costing more than Brown.

Honestly, I wouldnā€™t spend my time right now on scholarships. Iā€™d make sure my list has schools I can afford and be admitted. The best return on your time investment will come from good applications to schools with merit or need based aid. Those pools of money are orders of magnitude larger than random/local scholarships.

Yes, from my general reading,
(I am NOT a tax advisor.) Lifetime Learning Credit exists, but subject to same Modified Adjusted Gross Income limits as the American Opportunity Credit.

Can see instructions at IRS website
