Scholarships & Spring Transfer Student: Most Awarded in Fall?

I will be transferring to a four year school as a transfer student next spring semester. Given my financial need, I will be scouting for all the scholarships I can, but will the timing of my matriculation make things difficult?

Are scholarships mostly awarded for the upcoming fall semester or are they more plentiful year-round (fall and spring semesters)?

First of all, nearly all good scholarships are for incoming freshmen only.

There are some small transfer scholarships, but only a few colleges offer them.

And, typically, those are for fall admits.

^Do you know if some non-school granted scholarships that are awarded to entering fall students are able to be deferred (as with some university applications) to the next semester?

Colleges plan their financial aid budgets for the year. If you apply for spring semester, you are at the mercy of what money is left over. The only big scholarships for transfer students that I know of are the Phi Theta Kappa scholarships for community college honors students.
