Scholarships to Study Abroad in High School

<p>If you're interested in languages, cultures, and traveling, definitely take a look at these state department programs. These are all full scholarships to study language and culture in a foreign country. </p>

<p>NSLI-Y programs offer intensive language immersion in a variety of locations around the world. Beginners are welcome to apply for any of the target languages.</p>

<p>Scholarships are available for students to learn the following languages for either a summer or a year:</p>

<p>The U.S. Department of State's Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study Abroad (YES Abroad) program, provides competitive merit-based scholarships for U.S. secondary school students (age 15-18.5) to study for one academic year in select countries. </p>

<p>CBYX: <a href="http://www.usagermanyscholarship.org"&gt;http://www.usagermanyscholarship.org&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p>

<p>The U.S. State Department funded Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Program (CBYX) is for motivated high school students who want to fully immerse themselves in German culture by living with a host family and attending a local high school. No previous language experience is required.</p>

<p>To follow up on this, also consider NSLI-Y’s sister program, the Critical Language Scholarship (<a href=“http://www.clscholarship.org/”>http://www.clscholarship.org/&lt;/a&gt;) which is for college students and offers the following languages :</p>

<p>Azerbaijani, Bangla/Bengali, Hindi, Indonesian, Korean, Punjabi, Turkish, and Urdu at the beginning, advanced beginning, intermediate and advanced levels; </p>

<p>Arabic and Persian at the advanced beginning, intermediate and advanced levels; and </p>

<p>Chinese, Japanese, and Russian at the Intermediate and advanced levels.</p>
