The most generous scholarships (aside from things like Gates, etc) are the ones offered through the colleges themselves. SO check your college websites to see what they offer (note, the most generous scholarships often have a separate application and the due date for those is usually December 1…but this varies by school so check).

There are some local scholarships in your community that you should learn about. These are typically smaller awards (but they can add up) and are usually for your freshman year only. Talk to your school guidance office about these.

Very true…

If you need money to pay for college, then private scholarships are not the best way. Private scholarships are often for small amounts and only for freshman year…so that would be a problem for your soph, junior, and senior years.

The best scholarships are from colleges. If you need scholarship money, you need to apply to the colleges that give them.

You need to apply to colleges that will award you scholarships based on the strength of YOUR application data (standardized test scores/GPA, etc). Many colleges, in fact MOST colleges have scholarships…but YOU have to find out whether you would be in the running for them.
