I am looking to go to college without any loans or any contributions from my parents. So, does Baylor offer ‘free-ride’ or ‘full-ride’ scholarships? I expect to get the full Pell grant, so that is a little bit paid for already. And I may get outside scholarship money. I don’t know yet.

Academics: SAT: 800 cr, 550 math, 700 writing. SAT II: 790 literature and 750 US History. A’s and B’s in dual credit classes. Homeschooled, so rank and gpa irrelevant.

I am a Life scout, will be an Eagle scout soon enough. Some other EC’s, but nothing else as impressive.

So, what do people think?

Baylor does offer full tuition scholarships.
I’m not sure how it works for homeschooled students; I’d call and ask.

Yes, Baylor offers from 95% to 100% of current Year tuition to National Merit Finalists who pick Baylor #1 on the NMSF list.

That leaves Room and Board, Books and Personal Expenses (which vary based on your travel costs) of about $13,500 per year.

Assuming it is too late for you to change your NMF status (if you did not sit for the PSAT in Fall of Jr. year, or you did not earn National Merit Semifinalist), the best you could do with the AUTOMATIC merit $$ would be about a 40% discount on tuition + fees, with a 1400 SAT score (get your CR score to 600). If you are able to get your verbal score up to 700 to 1500 combined, you would get 55% discount on tuition + fees.

However, there is a lot of aid at Baylor beyond the Automatic Merit Aid. There is Merit Aid you can apply for, and there is need-based aid determined by your FAFSA submission which could get you thousands more than the Merit Aid.
