I was offered the USF Directors Award(I was 1 ACT point away from presidential, grr.) and the Honors College Scholarship. Does this mean I'm automatically in the Honors college? If my new SAT scores are going to be available in 5 days.. should I wait to accept? Should I accept at all even though I'm not sure if I'm attending/receive higher scholarship?

Hello and congratulations on your excellent scores. In response to your question, it obviously appears that your question will require the response from an admissions representative as a lot is riding on your inquiry. Definitely contact USF admissions directly and if you don’t mind me asking, what were your specific stats, how much was offerred and why didn’t you apply to UF ?

LOL I’m still applying and thanks! Gotta get that UF app in! I hope I am not pushed to go to USF because my twin might be going there for medical school. But just in case- I would like to make sure I have the best financial offer I could get. I also got accepted to UCF and if they offer me the Provost ($20,000 and guaranteed admission to honors) I’ll very likely be going there. I love UF and I will be applying- soon- but my stats slightly below their range for honors… :/

OH and here’s the answer to your other questions. I was offered 14,250, 12,000 from Director’s the other from honors college.

The world doesn’t revolve around Gainesville. An older friend of mine did the honors program at USF and received generous scholarship money from USF. One can get a sound education at USF; she ended up going to UF’s medical college after doing undergrad at USF.

True. I also heard great things about UCF Honor’s as well. Their(UCF and USF) scholarship offers are very attractive!

I got my new scores today!! I increased my SAT score by 60 points and that would be good enough for presidential.

My score reports were sent two days ago. And this is the reply to my inquiry: “You can wait and see if you quality for the other scholarship with your new test scores.” Hopefully it just means it’s done automatically!

^ Congratulations! Don’t forget for your family to submit FAFSA application Jan. 1 too; you may be eligible for additional financial aid!

If honors college was listed in your acceptance letter. You will receive an invite to the honors college in the mail soon! I got presidential and honors scholarships from USF also!

:D!! Yes! I got my Presidential upgrade today! And I also got honors with my acceptance. Congrats to you!

I have a question… I know that if you raise your test scores before the priority scholarship deadline that they will update your scholarships automatically… but what about if you want into the honors program? Will that be done automatically, or do you have to contact someone for that?

I retook both SAT and ACT this month and I’m hoping my scores improve enough for it…

Does anyone know how this situation (upgrading a scholarship) works with GPA increases?

You can always call the Honors College, they are really friendly and helpful over there!! that’s what my sister always said, anyway :)

@tampacutie: Yeah, that’s a good suggestion. My SAT scores come back on the 22nd, and the ACT on the 27th (hopefully…) so I think I’ll call them after the holidays, just so I can actually give them a number when I’m asking.

I have to e-mail the Provost Scholar’s contact anyways when my new scores come in, because I’m pretty interested in that program (just emailing them the first time back in November got USF to send me the info in the mail, so I think I have a shot!)

For all those who got scholarships, did it show up immediately on your financial aid tab or did it show up after a while?

Well mine didn’t show up right away because my residency afadavit was messed up. But if it was fine, they would’ve automatically told me what my scholarships were when I was accepted. As soon as they received it, I got my scholarship.
