Scholarships?

I was expecting it March 31 too. I received an email about it this morning so maybe it’s rolling? I am not sure…

Hey, I got the email about the FA award! :D

Big Green Smiley Face must mean something GREAT!

Hahaha! I didn’t know a colon and a capital D would make a smiley like that!

They gave me a loan for $5,500, and that plus the scholarship saves me a lot of money :)

Does anyone else have the campus comprehensive fee on their FA package for like $980? What is that? I will probably call M center, also I am not sure if my package included the health insurance they make you buy. W.E my package was awesome, and I probably will be attending in the fall.

The campus comprehensive fee is a campus fee that we have to pay (for all the misc. stuff we’ll be using on campus, my best guess) it was included in my package as well. I was also wondering about the health insurance fee, because it was not included in my package (I don’t know if that means they know I am covered in my parents plan and therefore I don’t need it).

I heard you can opt out of it, I don’t really know the logistics of it. Are you going to attend for sure Zay? I will know by Saturday morning.

I haven’t heard that we are able to opt out of it… did you call the M center and get an answer? Also, yesterday I got a call from our admissions counselor asking if I had any questions about my financial aid. She was so sweet! I asked her about the health insurance fee thing and she said she’d look into it and give me another call. I told her Mills is #1 on my list but I;m still waiting on other packages from other schools. Even though I got a really good package from Mills it won’t be easy for my parents and I to meet the gap (since I can’t even do work study because I’ll be living off campus). I let her know that and told her I’m going to the admitted student preview day and will be meeting with a financial aid counselor that day as well. I really do hope things work out well for me… Mills is my #1!

I talked to the undergrad admissions counselor and she said this about the health insurance thing

"In response to your question about paying for health insurance, it does not show up in your financial award letter because it’s another additional cost. Health insurance is not part of tuition or room and board. "

Hey guys! I just wanted to let you all know that my sister is a freshman english major at Mills and she absolutely loves it! If you have questions about dorms, classes, the area/campus, etc. feel free to ask and I’ll pass them along.

what’s it like being in an all girls school??? been in a co-ed school all my life and many of my good friends are guys… also got into w/ a scholarship

My sister also came from a coed public school, and she hasn’t had a problem. However, most of her friends have always been girls. I think it’s a little different for her because we live not too far from mills and she still works at the same place from high school where she knows lots of guys and she also has 2 close friends from high school that go to cal, so she meets guys there. They tell you that there’s guy grad students, and there are, but I don’t think she’s befriended any of them. You have to come to mills wanting an all-girl education, not coming despite it. I promise that you will adjust. The girls there build an incredible sisterhood and I’m sure that you will find guys if you feel the need- after all, Berkeley is very close and you may be taking classes there.

So getting back on the subject of scholarships, there is a youtube video about how the class of 2012 is putting together a scholarship for an incoming member of the class of 2016. I am not sure how much but who cares that’s awesome!
