Scholarships?

Any idea when scholarships will go out?

We were told mid-march??

By the second week of March they said

Mid march except for Leiber which is the one for National Merit Finalist. That letter comes separately but a little later. However by then you know you’re a finalist therefore automatically get the scholarship.

Does anyone know any details about a day for visiting if you are awarded a scholarship? or is there a special day for visiting if you have been accepted into Honors College? Our DD trying to make the final decision and would just love for her to do so and get it done!!!

There is nothing just for honors college. There is a Scholars Day which is like an accepted students day for any student that has been awarded any scholarship. don’t know if they break out specific groups during the day. We are so familiar with USC that we didn’t go.

the Honors College will set up a visit day schedule for an accepted Honors candidate.Get in touch with the Visitors Center, inform them of the request and they will put you in touch with the proper Honors people.Your D can have a personalized visit plan outside of the scholars Day including a class visit, dorm tour, time with professors in the intended major dept, etc. Have a great visit!

Thanks, we did go down in January and set up the personalized Honors College visit. It was great and very helpful. But DD is really struggling making the final decision. I had hoped maybe there was some type of Honors College day that she could attend to get to meet some of the other students and help make the choice. Really just want her to decide and then be able to enjoy the rest of her senior year. Waiting to hear about scholarships, know she will get Lieber but also have heard all accepted into Honors College received additional scholarship. Had originally hoped she’d be invited for McNair but no such luck. At this point USC looking much more affordable than staying in state - crazy! This family way ready for all the waiting to be over!!

hope2help…Just FYI, the letters with financial aid/scholarship packages come out in March but Leiber comes out separately and later, so don’t panic when it’s not included in the March package. Good luck.

scmom12 - thanks for the info. This is our first time thru the process, it’s not for the weak! Ugh. I just want her to make what she believes is the best choice and get on with life. Does your son/daughter attend USC? If so, and you don’t mind my asking, is he or she in the Honors College? and if you don’t mind sharing, pluses/minuses? We are up in OHio and a little concerned about her going that far away but we loved it when we visited. Feel free to PM if you prefer.

hope2help - I do have a daughter in USC honors. She lives in honors dorm and loves it. Has met some really great people and has been happy with her classes (now if she only knew what she really wants to study). My biggest knock against USC is size. Other child is at small school where you call one person to get an answer, at USC it’s handled by several offices, etc. Also not thrilled that housing so tight, but that is not a problem with Honors, and the dorms are really nice. Of course, honors ensures you have at least a few small classes on your schedule. In such a large school it is a major benefit to having an additional honors advisor and honors administration. I feel like she got much more personal advising and an easily accessible person to answer questions. Good luck in making decision. Putting decision off til last minute makes for a miserable senior year! My daughter has had a great year so far.

Has anyone heard any details about a “get to know your fellow Honors College students” type event the day before Scholars Day on 3/24? We are trying to make travel plans and would appreciate any info. Thanks and again congrats to all who received scholarships. First time thru for us and it’s an “exciting” process.

Any idea when scholarships will go out?

Had hoped for a McNair but D got a Cooper for $4,000 and will get the Leiber also as a NMF. It was mailed on 2/24. Scholars Day is March 24th.
