Scholarships

Does anyone know if if there is an extra application needed to be considered for the Elite Scholarships? If yes is the application invite only?

Also the following is from the National Merit Scholarship page on Auburn’s site.

“University stipend for four years at $4,000 to $8,000 ($1,000 to $2,000 per year), dependingon eligibility as determined by National Merit Scholarship Corporation and financial need as determined through completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).”

If FAFSA shows zero need does that mean 0 dollars?

I believe the elite scholarships are applied for by invitation only. The National Merit stipend is minimum $1,000 per year ($2,000 if there is need per FAFSA).

Penny(x3) is correct – you’ll get an invitation for the elite scholarship competition if your student is eligible. Competition is pretty tough for these awards. And yes, if your student is named a NMF, he or she will get at least $1000K a year, regardless of FAFSA. Note that the scholarship is divided up between the semesters, and the check doesn’t come until late Aug/early Sept. – at least this has been the case for my D.
Don’t forget to apply for departmental scholarships! It’s a separate application, and dates vary depending on the school.
