Scholarships

When do we hear about scholarships?

Just got son’s notification today…be on the look out :)

I didn’t think scholarship stuff came out until like February.

My daughter received her’s today.

Okay, I’m confused. Did you guys get notifications of admission or scholarship offers?

Letter from OSU today: Maximus at $5000/year and National Buckeye Scholar at $12,000/year. Both for 4 years - Maximus requires GPA of 3.2 and National Buckeye GPA of 2.5 to maintain the scholarships.

Oh gosh, that worries me. I’m in state and live about an hour away from campus and haven’t gotten any kind of letter yet. I have a 3.83 GPA and a 29 ACT.

Not guaranteed, but with 29 act if you’re in top 10%, you qualify for $3k/year, top 20% is $2k/year. Never know with the mail this time of year!

Could the posts who received their scholarship money post their stats - test scores, GPA,etc.
Daughter was accepted but has not received scholarship dollars.

When do they report the scholarship recipients for Morill and the other large awards?

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using CC

Here’s the required stats to be considered…Scholarships

The National Buckeye Scholarship is awarded on a competitive basis to non-Ohio students required to pay the out-of-state surcharge who are admitted to the Columbus campus for autumn semester. Those considered rank in the top 40 percent of their graduating classes and have ACT composite scores of 28 or higher or combined SAT Critical Reading and Math scores of 1260 or higher.

Notes:

Except where noted, the National Buckeye Scholarship can be combined with any other merit scholarships, as long as the combined total does not exceed the total cost of an Ohio State education.
This award is renewable for a maximum of eight semesters (or the equivalent) of full-time undergraduate enrollment, provided the recipient maintains a 2.5 or higher GPA (earned by no later than the end of the first year) and nonresident classification remains unchanged.
International Undergraduate Scholarship
Award amount
$4,000 ($16,000 four–year value)

Criteria
The Ohio State University is committed to enrolling a diverse and talented student population. The International Undergraduate Scholarship is offered on a competitive basis to qualified full-time, Columbus campus international freshmen (students who have not attended university since graduating from high school/secondary school) who are required to pay the nonresident tuition surcharge. Those considered have ACT composite scores of 29 or higher or combined SAT Critical Reading and Math scores of 1300 or higher, and are applying for autumn semester.

Notes:

This award is renewable annually for a maximum of eight semesters (or the equivalent) of full-time undergraduate enrollment, provided the recipient continues to pay the nonresident tuition surcharge and maintains a 2.5 or higher grade point average (earned by no later than the end of the second year).

@scienceman…last year, it looks like MSP recipients were notified in early February, but this year, application deadline is early February. Eminence interviews aren’t until spring.

so Mommydearest…an OOS student can get the National Buckeye and Maximus for a total of 17K/yr. Doesn’t that make their tuition less than our instate Maximus recepients?

Thanks for posting the criteria - my dd asked me how many Maximus’ were awarded and I told her I had not idea. But her school does not publicize ranks so she will be psyched to know that she is "considered to be in the top 3%) - which at her school means she is somewhere between #1-#6.

I usually don’t like to post stats but since alantill asked (and I like to see them when I am waiting on my dd’s decision :)) 34 ACT, 4.0 UW/ 4.5W Lots of EC’s and long term commitments to EC’s (personally I think this makes a difference). Goodluck.

@ahsmuoh…no, oos tuition is $15k higher, so it’s still more even with national buckeye

Columbus Campus Undergraduates
Estimated Expense
(2 Semester Budget)

Tuition and Fees 10,034 10,034 25,450

@alantill…my son is instate, he received Maximus, but has stats high enough for Eminence…hth

The Eminence Scholarship is Ohio State’s premier merit award, offered to just 25 stellar new first-year students admitted to the Columbus campus for autumn semester.

Award amount
Full cost of attendance at Ohio State for four years, plus a $3,000 enrichment stipend accessible after the first year of successful study. Note: Due to the award’s value, the Eminence Scholarship replaces all other university merit awards a student may have been offered.

Criteria
Recipients of the Eminence Scholarship typically rank in the top three percent of their graduating classes and have an ACT composite score of 34 or higher or combined SAT Critical Reading and Math score of 1520 or higher.

Those that have gotten scholarship offers, have you paid your acceptance fee already?

No, we haven’t

No, we haven’t either - honestly haven’t read all the information yet to see dates. That is on my agenda to do over the holidays when I hopefully have some time.

We are OOS and even with the National Buckeye, OSU will cost more than our state flagship so no, we won’t be sending in a deposit. The Eminence requires a 3.4 GPA to keep the scholarship – I think that is way too high especially for engineering majors so DS is not applying for it.

I guess all I can do is wait. I paid my acceptance fee online today after I got the letter in the mail, and it still has to process on BuckeyeLink. Hopefully something will be coming in the mail soon about scholarships.

Still waiting for scholarship info in San Diego
