Scholarships

I was accepted in the first round of application review to Loyola. . .however, I'm still waiting to hear from them about MONEY because I need some

Does anyone know how much money they give out for merit scholarships/financial aid?

I know that I qualify for their presidential scholarships which range from $5,000 to full tuition. . .however, that is a very broad range.

just for the record, these are my stats:

SAT I : 2170 (670 M, 730 V, 770 W)
SAT II: Literature 760, US History 620

gpa: 3.8/4.0 - grades stayed great all 4 years, no major fluctuations
rank: 9/120

all honors and AP classes since 9th grade - (took every AP/honors class provided by my school except AP Calc)

AP US History (3), AP Physics (1-this will hurt me), AP Bio, AP Euro History, AP English (taking these three this year)

good EC's. . .JV (2 years) and Varsity (senior year) Basketball, Varsity Track and field (2 years), homeroom rep of Student Council, co-editor of literary publication, various italian language awards, nat'l honor society, italian honor society, alpha honor society

sufficient (not a lot) of volunteer work

very good essay, unique experience
probably extremely good teacher recs
guidance counselor is very absent-minded, can't count on that reccomendation

accepted early with scholarships to:
Fairfield U
Fordham U
Villanova U
Loyola Coll
waiting to hear from BC and cornell RD

Academically speaking, I think we're on par - my SATs are a little bit lower, but I have higher AP scores.

I've been accepted, but have yet to recieve anything about Financial Aid or scholarships. However, I don't think either of us really have anything to worry about - from what I've heard, Loyola is very good about giving money. Also, we're both in the running for a Presidential Scholarship from them.

I can't wait to hear from them! In my acceptance letter, it stated that FA news would come in February or March, so, soon, I hope.

Good luck.

PS - I looked back on my acceptance papers, and they say that anyone who is recieving a merit scholarship will be notified on or before March 15th.

Nymetsgirl, do you mind my asking how much scholarship money you received from the other schools? My D is interested in those schools as well and has similar stats.

My daughter was also accepted very early in the process, and nothing has come regarding financial aid. IDOC requested info for Loyola, Duke, and Dartmouth. She did send in the honors application to Loyola, and we've received a ton of letters encouraging her to visit, et., but no financial. Loyola is not my D's top 3, but one never knows how the admissions process will go.

In case this helps: I recieved a letter today offering me a President's Scholarship of $10,000, renewable.

Did you hear anything yet?

I also got a 10,000 Presidential scholarship + 15,000 in grants

I got 17,500 Presidential Scholarship

Financial Aid letters started going out yesterday and are guarenteed to get to you later than 4/15/06. I hope to get some Financial Aid for my daughter not just loans.
