I’m an OOS Senior that is interested in the UofU. I have a 33 ACT and 4.0 UW GPA. I’m mainly wondering what the minimum requirements for the Academic Excellence award is, and also the minimum requirements for the Academic Commendation award. With the Academic Commendation award the main incentive would be established residency after my first year. However, are any scholarships available after residency is switched and the Academic Commendation award has ended? I will be majoring in Electrical Engineering so there may be a few departmental scholarships available as well. I would appreciate any and all help. Thanks!
It appears Academic Excellence requires 34-35 ACT, and at some point, perhaps even this year, that may move up to 35 as a minimum. I think 33 should get Academic Commendation which as you say is intended to cover tuition while you qualify for residency. Then there is no continuing automatic scholarship unless you have the NMF $500 that stacks, though tuition is pretty cheap and there may be some departmental grants available.
You can also apply to Eccles which is not just based on test scores, and a 33 would not rule you out of contention, though winning the scholarship would depend on the rest of your application, recommendation and interview performance.
