Has anyone been awarded a scholarship yet? My daughter got her acceptance letter last week, but we haven't heard anything about scholarships or financial aid.

those who were designated presidential and trustee scholars have all been notified and interviewed. usc will be sending out the final prez/trust scholarship decision letters in late march, and i'm assuming they'll send out the rest of the scholarship letters as well.

No one in the second wave (started March 6) has posted here that they received a scholarship yet. I hope the first person to get it will start a new thread so we will know.

if u have received acceptance with no scholarship indication r u pretty much not going to receive one?

all the trustee/presidential letters went out in late january/early february, so if you didn't get one, you will not receive a trustee or presidential. you might still get one of the smaller ones that don't require interviews, however.

No one here on cc has heard about the other two scholarships that admission gives: Deans and Associates (partial scholarships of various amounts.) So those are yet to come- just wait!

Several people from last year have told us (here on these boards) that they didn't get their scholarship notices until April!

cc411: There have been a large number of people on these boards that have received Deans scholarship already.

Are you sure Foil? I haven't seen a single posts were someone has said they received Deans already.

And there are more...

[I posted this in another thread, but since there seems to be a lot more activity here I am re-posting it (pls. let me know if this violates the rules and I will delete the prior post)].

Now that the Explore USC/Presidential sessions are over, I would be interested in anyone's impressions. Were you grilled or was it an informal chat session?

USC says that a nominee's chances of getting a Presidential are ~60%. This could be read two ways: 60% of nominees receive a Presidential offer, or 60% of nominees end up accepting a Pres. offer. That is, I suppose a lot of kids in this category also receive similar scholarship offers from other top schools, so some will end up declining a Pres. offer from USC. So, if the second interpretation is correct, someone whose first choice is USC would actually have a better than 60% chance of being offered a Presidential?

Thanks for any insights.

You are right, foil- that's disturbing. I was holding out hope. I guess the associates is still out there (?) At least no one in this second wave has heard- or maybe you can find a thread- I haven't seen one. So hopefully this wave might still receive something.

Well, I got into RHP and everyone in RHP is guaranteed at least a dean's scholarship, but I still haven't received any notification. So...

Yeah, make whatever you want out of it. I'm just hoping I get more than a quarter tuition scholarship because 50K does not grow on trees for me.

Well that's slightly depressing. Thanks foil.

Does anyone know anything about the "University Scholarships? They apparently are an award of $2500/yr. towards general expenses, but I can't find anything else about them on the USC website.

Thanks.

My daughter had a University Scholarship awarded in her financial aid package in April last year. It was more than $2500/yr, though. After fall semester she was notified it had been renamed (after a woman, but I can't remember who) so maybe the current University Scholarships are $2500.

We didn't find much about them, either, but they are apparently a merit scholarship offered to some students the university would like to encourage to come, who didn't quite make the cutoff for interviews for Presidential, etc. In order to continue receiving it you have to maintain a certain minimum GPA (3.0 I think?).

my university scholarship was originally $4000/yr but then after receiving the presidential scholarship for being a NMF, it was cut to $2500/yr.

Thank you for the replies. We were also fortunate enough to receive a Presidential and then the University, so that is consistent with takeme2cali's experience.

I still find it odd that there is nothing (that I see, anyway) on the USC "merit" scholarship webpage about the University Scholarships.
