scholarships

Does anybody know when the merit scholarship decision come out? If someone hears, could they plz post, cuz I doubt UChicago will tell everybody who doesn't receive one, and I don't really want to wait around...thanx

i have a friend in brazil who got the full tuition scholarship. white male, imagine that.

They don't inform you if you did not get one.

Scholarship notifications come in the mail with your acceptance package.

It is, of course, mailed separately if one was admitted EA.

does anyone know when the mail date was?

probably yesterday or the day before that...

Same day as email, yesterday. Check out http://uncommonapplication07-08.blogspot.com/

so the RD people found out about scholarships in their emails then? and the EA people find out only be mail?

Libby (in the Admissions Blog) said that scholarship letters were mailed at the same time as admissions decision letters. She also said that only recipients will be informed. That makes sense since there was no separate application.

I don't think they put scholarship stuff in the emails.

Oh man, I'm getting anxious to find out what type of merit aid (if any) Chicago has come up with for me. When I heard that the info was mailed yesterday, I had assumed I would get it today seeing as I live about 25 minutes away from the school, but alas, I came home, ran to my mailbox and found nothing but a catalog, some bills, and a letter from St Lawrence telling me it's not too late too apply.

I really love Chicago, but I can't justify spending twice as much on it as my second choice school which has offered me half of the expenses in merit scholarships (No need-based aid from anywhere :( )

Please Oh-high-and-mighty-Chicago-adcom, come through with a scholarship so I can afford to attend!!!

Anyone else anxious to find out about scholarships?

I live in Colorado and so have long before gotten used to not getting my mail in a decent timeframe :

Enigma's post doesn't comfort a kid in west texas.

GrayMatter - practice patience! They seem to use (slow) armadillos for the postal delivery in your area. Hoping for good news for all of you.

I'm in the same situation Enigma. I'd love to be able to go to Chicago but if I have to pay alot, I won't be able to go.

Enigma.. I did not apply for aid. However, I got a letter today ( separate from my acceptance letter from the other day ) where they are offering me a total of 20, 000 per year because my academics and if i keep a good record while at U of C from second year on. Has anyone gotten anything similar?

I've never heard of that scholarship, MovieBuff. U of C's traditional merit scholarships have been the University Scholar (~1/3 tuition) and College Honor (full tuition) scholarships, which are both independent of academic performance, excluding the requirement of remaining a full student in good standing. Would you mind sharing the details?

moviebuff, i got something similar. i got the university scholarship which is 10,000 a year if i keep good academic standing. it came with my acceptance package in this fancy folder type thing.

Any EA people hear about scholarships yet?

I'm guessing that if I don't hear from the powers that be sometime this week, I didn't get merit money. crosses fingers for non-Chronicle mail

Where are you guys at? I was thinking I was a decent candidate for merit aid (got into Harvard and Yale), but I haven't received any notice. Also, I live in Illinois about 2 hours from campus, so I expected to get it before or at the same time as everyone else. I was an EA admit so I won't be getting anything if I didn't get merit aid.
