Scholarships

Anyone know anything about University of Oregon scholarships? Cost is a big concern for me and I think I would have a good chance of being offered a scholarship. Anyone receive one or heard of anyone receiving one?

ok so i am going through this process too. so you have to fill out and submit the FAFSA form. the FAFSA seems to be really where most of your aid comes from. you can also apply for grants and loans from the unversity (if you want to take out loans). and then of course there's the unversity scholarships. you can do a scholarship search directly on the website and find whatever applicable scholaships are there and apply for them. you can also fill out the applications for the unversity scholarships, the diversity scholarships, and the clarck honors college. i hope this helps but really just go directly to website that i gave you and you find what you're looking for there. good luck to you!!

oh yeah and also, i don't know if this applys to you but there is also the Western Unversity Exchange (WUE) and that is if you live in a cerytian state on the west coast and end at the unversity of oregon you may be applicable for only paying in state tuition!!

Oregon gives out very few WUE scholarships but they have a lot of alternative scholarships. I'm really mad because I got one and can't find out what its worth until april. They are not very on top of it.

my daughter got her acceptance letter last week along with a notice of a Dean's Scholarship. When does she hear and what amount do they base it on? We filled out Fafsa but won't really qualify for much aid. Do we need to send it to UO or does that matter? Thanks

Lovesong, we are in the same boat as you. My son was told he would receive a Dean's Scholarship when he was accepted back in November but that we would not be told the actual amount of money until late March. We do not qualify for any need-based aid at UO, so we did not bother filling out any of the financial aid forms. But it wouldn't hurt to send the FAFSA to them anyway.

So I got the Dean's scholarship today. Do all the scholarships come together, or do we hear from different General University ones, etc., at different times? thanks!

congrats everyone,i got a deans scholarship as well! anyone know other details about this certain scholarship?

Here's the specific link for the Dean's Scholarship on the UP website.

My daughter got one (entering F06) and she was awarded $3K/year. At the time the top end was $5K. I have recently read that this fellowship tops out at $6K now.

The amount of your award seems to be based on a formula that involves your GPA and test scores. In my daughter's case, her unweighted GPA was 3.65 and her SAT scores were 1980. I know someone who got the $5K and she had higher GPA and test scores. Both are from California.
