Scholarships

Does anyone know of any good theatre based scholarships that I could apply for? Thanks for your help in advance!

I think some of your best bets are the talent/merit scholarships given by the colleges themselves. Another good bet are locally based scholarships in your community, region, or state by arts organizations and theater companies (for example, in our rural town, the community theater gives out small scholarships to graduating seniors and so does a local scholarship in the name of a deceased person who cared about the arts). There are state level competitions that sometimes give out small awards...state scholarships for music or theater and such. There is also the NFAA Arts Awards. While my own kid got all of these things, the awards were on a small scale when it comes to money (though very nice to get) and the largest source of scholarship money was directly from the colleges/programs themselves.

Is BoCo generous with scholarships?

My d auditioned at BoCo last year and we were told on audition day that there were not any scholarships for sapranos. My d is a saprano and was accpeted to BoCo, but did not receive a scholarship. Maybe scholarship offers change year to year depending on their need for certain voice types?

Yes, BOCO does award scholarships based on the auditions .
