Scholarships

*Where are good places to get scholarships from other than Fastweb (especially local ones)??

*My best friend and I are applying for the same scholarship. I think I have a better chance of winning it (our stats are similar, but I have more extra-curriculars). The problem is: my family is more financially stable then my friend's and I feel bad that I might be depriving them of needed scholarship funds. What should I do?

Many local groups take financial need into consideration when awarding scholarships, although some do not. I would say, both of you should apply and let them choose. Then be supportive of each other, no matter who gets it--of course, it could be someone else entirely...

Usually the counselor's office at your school is a good place to find local scholarships. They should have applications and information. Also check to see if parents' businesses, unions, or other organizations offer scholarships.

I did scholarships.com for a while. It had a lot less ads then Fastweb. It was about the same with matching me to ones i was eligible for (you know, for every ten i could do one :P )
I know at my school, we never really talked about scholarships. "Did you get the new senior brief?" was about the farthest it went. I really wouldn't bring it up much. Just be super happy if she gets it, just like you would for her :)
