I went to Walnut Hill for four years, and if you’re looking into music, you should DEFINITELY check it out over idyllwild: NEC at Walnut Hill is unmatched by Interlochen or Idellwild (chamber music), unless you are exclusively interested in orchestra, in which case Interlochen’s daily rehearsals are a great asset. The visual art department is also phenomenal, and I know one of my friends who was a voice major took a visual art class as an elective her junior year. This rarely happens, but the school is small enough and the administration understanding enough that they will make exceptions if the situation merits it.

Regarding $, Interlochen has the most, but some Walnut Hill students are lucky enough to get sponsorship arrangements, some of which are a full ride. My advice would be apply to all 3, see where you get in, see who gives you the most $, and negotiate from there.
