Scholarships

If any of you have received a scholarship to USC or currently go to USC on scholarship, what were your stats to receive the certain scholarship?
Just wanted to know for reference.

Presidential (Half-tuition), Engineering Merit ($2500), Merit Research (Up to $3000, "salary"):

1500 (720, 780), 800 IIc, 710 Writing, 670 USH

3.8-4.0 depending on which high school you ask...

A HUGE key to the scholarships is the interview...but the qualifications for interviewing are largely based on stats and your essays...

Good luck!

Presidential,General Scholarship ($2500) and National Merit Scholarship ($1000):
1500 (710 M, 790 V) 750 IIC, 740 Writing, 710 chem.
4.0 GPA.
I didn't actually interview for the scholarship, I won it for National Merit.

cool ... wait presidential as in half-tuition? do u think i have any chance even though i got a 1450 on my SAT (actually 2220 but 740 V 710 M 770 W), but i still have a 3.98 GPA (got one B throughout high school) 4.74 WGPA, and SAT IIs not sure yet hope for in the 700s
im white too i donno if that makes a diff or not

You definitely have a good chance score wise, because almost all of mine were lower than yours, and I got Trustee's. However, other activities are also important.

really? thats awesome ... could you tell me a little about your stats and other activities? what you think mightve helped you?
thanks.

old SAT- 1440
ACT -34
Lots of AP classes, and decent scores on SAT2
I'm a gold award girl scout, a national hispanic scholar, have been jumproping for eleven years, and have been very, very active in my church. My weighted GPA was something around a 4.1.

hey ss87:

I am a TRustee Scholar and I am pretty good friends with the lady who is in charge of giving out the scholarships (Becky Chassin) and I would definitely say that the most important things for the getting the scholarships are SAT scores - and then the interview ... my stats were
old sat - 770M - 770V - ACT 34 - National Merit Scholar
760 SAT II, 750 SAT II Math, and a bunch of others that were all around 700

i did have really good EC's though:
State Chairman of Teenage Republicans
State Champion in high school soccer (AAA - the largest public school division)
i also won a few piano competitions ...

however, as i said before, it seemed to me that the ppl who got the scholarship mostly had high SAT's (around 1450 and up) and a good interview

hope that helps

i had 1450 SAT
720-sat ii writing
730-satii math2
760 satii bio
4.52 weighted gpa
all aps basically.

not the kinda extra curriculars that would blow you away like the ones mentioned above.
mock trial. band (1 year) hospital volunteering, sunday school teacher, church usher, board positions in clubs (webtech secretary)

i'm an interntional student recently admitted to USC for the Fall semester, and i got the presidential (half tuition) scholarship. my scores were as follows:
Old SAT I- math:780
verbal:710
SAT II- writing 790
Math II 730

I had good grades in school (no such thing as GPA here in India) and have very strong EC's in music. plus, my interview was also great.

I wish I would have gotten a little more money...they gave me $6500/year...I think my numbers were good, but I probably should have spent a little more time on my crappy essay...
SAT I: 1480 (Verbal: 720, Math: 760)
SAT II's: Math IC:800; Math IIC:800; Chemistry: 800; Biology: 730; Writing: 720
4.3 GPA
