Scholarships?

Do any other schools other than the engineering college offer scholarships?

And if I want to dual major in business and engineering or major in business and minor in engineering can i still qualify for the engineering scholarship? and If there is a scholarship for business degree students could i also qualify for that? How would i let them know?

Other colleges do offer scholarships, but they are generally offered to students not receiving general UA scholarships. There is a link on mybama to change your application major, but the best bet is to call the appropriate department come January and notify them then. E-mail would also work.

You won’t get the engineering scholarship if you minor in engineering.

IF you want to double major in engineering and something else, then you need to declare engineering NOW, and then add your second major at Bama Bound or when school begins.

For some reason, an incoming freshmen can’t declare a double major during the application process, therefore to get the engineering scholarship, you must list engineering as your (primary) major.

It doesn’t hurt anything that you can’t declare the second major at this point.

I got notification of a UA Presidential Scholarship about 2 days after I got notification of my acceptance. However, I am confused. They say they will pay for out of state tuition, which is 9600 according to the website. But they are giving me 19,200 a year?

9600 per semester

krazie,

Congrats. Yes, non-resident tuition is about $20k per year. That Presidential scholarship will INCREASE each year as tuition increases, so it’s worth about $80,000 :)

Where are you from?

Southern California. And b216, thanks. That makes so much more sense. (:

Hm - D got accepted several weeks ago - but we haven’t seen anything on scholarships - but her app did meet the deadline and according to their web-site she should be eligible for a scholarship.

Any thoughts?

Any thoughts?"

Yes, call them and ask what info they have on file. This happened to DS and when he inquired, he was told his GPA was too low and would not be considered for scholarship awards. Apparently, the transcript is not scanned and whoever was inputting the info made a typo. We had to have transcripts sent a 2nd time, but DS received his scholarship award letter about 2 weeks later.

Thanks 1dsnhs - I’ve got the contact info for her to call them when the offices re-open after the first of the year.

Definitely send an email or call scholarships when the offices re-open.

What date was she accepted? **What date did she submit **her scholarship application???

What scholarship is she eligible for?

Application was in LONG before the Dec 1st deadline.

I think it’s called Capstone? I get the names confused al of the time.

She was accepted in mid-late November (before Thankgiving).

So, she submitted her school app in October and then submitted the scholarship app in November?

hmmm…I know that there is a delay for students who don’t qualify for Presidential, since the school waits for Nov scores to see if the student now qualifies for a higher scholarship. But, it seems that you should have gotten notice before the offices closed - unless they’re just behind (which wouldnt’ surprise me at all - since they’re drowning in apps over there.)

What was her major? Perhaps her department major is reviewing her app for a dept scholarship.

I sent my Application to UA off in either the last week of October or the first week of November. I applied for the Honors College, Schols, etc and have not recieved anything back yet. (No Acceptance/Rejection or Scholarship information). Their website is not clear of the timeline…

^^^

Wait! How were you able to apply to honors if you weren’t accepted to the school? If the Honors app link showed up on MyBama, you’ve been accepted to the school. (I don’t know WHY you haven’t received official paper.)

Also…log into MyBama…

See if there’s a link for paying registration fees or something like that. (That link appears after acceptance._

now…go to Crimson mail (icon on top left in MyBama). See if there’s an email from the Honors College.

When the offices open, call and ask why you haven’t rec’d written confirmation.

In the meantime, send an email to your area rep.

For which scholarship are you eligible?

I got a merit scholarship along with my acceptance letter but is there any chance for additional scholarship? bc i got my merit scholarship before I had even turned in my scholarship application.

^^^

Which scholarship did you receive before you applied for scholarships? Was it a National Merit?

Are you saying that your scholarship came in the same envelope as your acceptance? Are you sure. That isn’t typical, but I guess it’s possible.

Also, what major did you put on your scholarship app?

elhx92, there is always a chance of an additional scholarship, but unless you are an engineering major, nothing is set in stone. I don’t know if the rule that the scholarship app has to be filled out in order to get the merit money is new this year or not, but I got my merit scholarship before filling out the scholarship application last year.

I got the collegiate scholarship automatically because of my SAT score so I was wondering if there was a chance that I would get more money after they have seen my scholarship application which really shows my community and school involvement and all the extra things I do.

What state are you from?

What major?
