My daughter got her acceptance letter from the U of M today. Other schools have included scholarships with this letter, but no mention of any from the U. It does say the students will receive notice by the end of March. Did anyone else get a package offer yet? She applied right before the Dec. 15th priority deadline. About how long might it take to hear something?

I got accepted on the 31st, and just got my Scholarship letter today so give it a few weeks. Hey, and are we able to receive several scholarships from the U, or can we just get one?

I think I’m going to go ahead and make my first post right here. I was accepted in November (in the first round of acceptances) and still haven’t received anything. I have good stats (3.98 UW, 33 ACT) but should I basically give up any hope of getting a scholarship? It seems like people are receiving them pretty soon after they are accepted.

My daughter was accepted back in November and received her Gold Scholarship notification today.

You might be getting a skewed perspective from the people who comment in this discussion regarding scholarships. Last year at the admitted students event the financial aid guy told us that if you receive a scholarship you are extremely lucky (I am not talking about the gold or maroon national). Informally it seems that 34 is the cut off for scholarships but I am sure that is not hard and fast rule. You should also know that Minnesota meets demonstrated need with loans for the most part. So if you don’t qualify for the gold or maroon national (and you don’t akbolling, being from wisco) you shouldn’t count on much in the way of merit aid from the U according to the finaid guy.

Hey thanks a lot for the reply. That’s kind of what I figured. But good luck everybody!

Apineiro,
If you don’t mind my asking, are you in state or OOS? What are your stats and how much did you get?

Thanks, and sorry for the triple post there. I’m not sure how that happenend. If you attend the U, I sure hope you enjoy our weather, It will be a bit of a shock coming from Miami!

lol trust me i cant wait for it. 18 years of hot as hell weather… its just ridiculous lol

I got notification that I received four scholarships a few weeks after I got my acceptance… so yes, it is possible to get more than one scholarship. If you’re curious, I got the Gold Scholar, National Merit Gold Scholarship (I forgot the exact name), Out-of-state tuition waiver, and a research stipend.

^ wow -
are here we are still waiting (since Sept 8) for an admittance!

Well I got my scholarship letter this weekend, gold national, gold scholar and undergrad research scholarship. It was a few weeks after my acceptance letter. I applied maybe a week before the deadline.

My daughter got a letter from the “U” today and was awarded the Maroon and Gold Leadership Award which is for $12K/year-enough for full tuition! She also got a Study Abroad Freshman Scholarship.

Last year I was accepted towards the end of November but didn’t receive scholarship information until around April 1. I volunteered in a calling outreach this past week through the University Honors Program, and from talking to prospective honors students, it sounds as though they have not yet received information on scholarships. Not to worry! Everything should be arriving shortly.

Mustang and MKrause, thanks for updating on scholarships.

I guess there’s still hope > < … I just want that Gold National scholarship :(

I talked to admissions yesterday and they said MOST scholarships are sent out at the end of march.
